Carbon Neutral
WE ARE A CARBON-NEUTRAL COMPANY
Let's work together to make the world a better place!
Eley, as a manufacturing company has recently obtained ISO 14064 (GHG - Greenhouse Gas Emissions) Certification, becoming a Carbon Neutral Company.
The ISO 14064 standard consists of a family of standards aimed at assessing, managing, and certifying the greenhouse gas emissions of organizations. This certification gives us the opportunity to keep under control the so-called greenhouse gases, which usually all organizations emit (even living beings are small emitters of greenhouse gases), and to put on track projects to reduce or cancel them, especially in emerging countries.

CARBON FOOTPRINT
Carbon footprint is a measure that expresses in CO2, the total greenhouse gas emissions emitted in the life cycle stages of a product (creation/processing/production/transportation/consumption/end of life), calculating its polluting impact.
This has been achieved through a combination of targeted actions aimed at improving, from an eco-sustainability perspective, the processes, lifestyle, and energy sources we use.
We have chosen to use 100% renewable energy from photovoltaic panels and clean energy projects for our business and production activities to reduce and totally offset CO2 emissions.

OFFSETTING PROJECTS
UKRAINE: waste HEAP Ukraine
Ukraine is ranked 1st in Europe and 8th in the world for geological reserves of hard coal. This production has been carried out mainly, for almost 300 years, through mines. The Donetsk Basin there is one of the largest coal deposits in the world. The first project our company has chosen to support is the redevelopment of the Ukrainian Donbas region.
The result of continuous mining from coal mines is the formation of coal rock deposits - called heaps. These heaps can lead to fire phenomena with subsequent propagation of smoke thus violating the environmental and economic balance of the Donbas mining areas, causing an altered ecological situation, affecting the state of the atmosphere, soil, and water, and bringing enormous damage to the health and life of people as well as that of animals and plants.
The project we support involves a complete dismantling of the "Azovtreyd" Ltd. landfill. During the dismantling of the landfill, the rock mass will be removed with special equipment for further processing with the purpose of obtaining pure coal for boilers, thus usable as fuel. Therefore, the rock mass of the landfill will be wholly processed back into coal.
The goal of the project is to eliminate the self-combustion phenomena in the landfill and to obtain additional coal from the residues of its extraction.
Eley and consequently Sendo, by supporting this project for the redevelopment of the Ukrainian Donbas region, has contributed to the achievement of some of the sustainable development goals for achieving a better future, a goal the UNO has set for 2030.
Specifically, we have been instrumental in:
- ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all
- taking urgent measures to combat climate change and its consequences
- conserving and sustainably using the oceans, seas, and marine resources for sustainable development
- halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss

INDIA: A Greener India
The second project that Eley and consequently Sendo has chosen to support in offsetting its carbon footprint is building a greener India through the use of innovative and sustainable products.
In this second project, carbon offsetting took the form of a collaboration with an Indian agribusiness company, a leader in the sustainable production of Palm Oil.
This project consists of sponsoring the purchase of a generator, which allows for the management of waste from the shells and bunches of palm fruits, enabling steam and electricity to be obtained for use in the Palm Oil production facilities themselves. In this way, the farm uses energy derived from so-called biomass to meet its energy needs and reduce dependence on imports.
The Plant helps conserve local resources, reduce pressure on the environment and ensure better health for the population.
Palm Oil, which is used as a raw material in the food and cosmetics sector thus has sustainable management and processing.
Virtuous behavior in support of the local community is also adopted by the company, as 100 percent of employees come from the area in which the company is located. The company offers its employees a medical benefits program with hospitalization support, health insurance, and a living allowance, and guarantees part-time work for women after maternity leave.
Employees are additionally eligible for a scholarship for up to one child. The company offers continuous skill upgrading and learning opportunities through structured career discussions and individual development plans.
By supporting this project, Eley and Sendo have contributed to the following ONU goals for achieving a better future:
- End poverty in all its forms, everywhere
- End hunger, ensure food security, improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
- ensure inclusive education for all and promote equitable and quality lifelong learning opportunities
- ensure the availability of affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy services for all
- promote inclusively, sustained, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all
- Build sound infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation
We believe that by working together to effect positive change, we can slowly improve everyone's way of life in order to make the world a better place.
