Summer has finally arrived and with it, we can enjoy the sun, hot weather, holidays, and trips out of town... but that's not all!
In this season of the year, hair care is in some ways more complex. In particular, if you have color-treated hair, you know how difficult it is to keep your hair's highlights and color alive and shiny, especially in the hottest season of the year when washing is more frequent than usual and hair is exposed to other stress factors such as saltiness, wind, and sun.
No worries! By following some #SendoBeautyTips, take care of your colored hair, and keep your hair color alive even in the summer will be easier. Read on to discover more!
Wash only if necessary and with lukewarm or cold water
If you have color-treated hair, you may know that with every wash it tends to shed color. Therefore, the first tip is to avoid unnecessary or too frequent washes. The temperature of the water also affects color retention. Although a hot shower feels great, it's not the best for your hair color. When you wash your hair in hot water, the cuticles lift up, causing the color to bleed out.
#SendoWouldSay: Wash hair with lukewarm water and rinse the conditioner off with cold water. Tepid/cold water prevents the cuticles from opening and, as a result, the color will lighten less.
Say NO to high temperatures
High temperatures, in general, are not color friendly as
they encourage the opening of the cuticles and the consequent loss of color. This applies
to both the temperature of the water and the temperatures of the hairdryer, straightener, or curling iron.
#SendoWouldSay: It's summer! Take care of your hair in the most natural way possible. Let your hair dry in the open air and make beach-waves style or wavy hair with braids.
Choose specific products for the care of colored hair
Cleanse and nourish your color-treated hair with specific products formulated to meet your need to protect color and highlights from external aggression while prolonging shine.
#SendoWouldSay: Discover the Sendo Color Defense line! Thanks to the synergy of key ingredients in the formula, such as biotechnological tomato extract and biotechnological phytocomplex (created by selecting grape, apple, lemon, and wheat bran), your highlights will be more intense and brighter for longer.
Use a sunscreen hair protection
Hair color, we know, tends to change by lightening with exposure to the sun. This applies to both natural and colored hair with the risk, in the latter case, that unwanted color highlights may appear.
#SendoWouldSay: Take care of your hair with products whose formula contains a protection factor from sunlight SPF. Alternatively? Wear a straw hat or a cotton scarf to protect your hair from the sun!
